![]() I used the stereo imaging to make the low end mono (within ozone, before the limiter of course), and I cap it off with a spectrum just to make sure everything looks in line. The track has some power in the lows too, so the perceived volume is slightly less than the rms would have you believe. A few db of limiting was all I needed to get to a rms of about -7/-8dbfs during the loudest parts of the track. I added a few db of gain to the glue so the limiter didn't have to work overtime. ![]() A few db of compression is all you need to avoid pumping and stick everything together (this compressor alone at a few db makes a NOTICEABLE difference in how well stuck together the mix sounds. Cytomic's 'the glue' is a bad ass compressor modeled off the SSL - and unlike some of the others (waves) it actually sounds amazing. I use PSP vintage warmer 2 to give a slight warmth to the lows and highs. I cut the mid-low's at around 370hz by about. "Most things that need fixing should be fixed in the mix - the chain just provides the glue if you will to bring the track up to commercial volume and stick it all together.
